THE HARRISON SQUARE CONDOMINIUM PROJECT:
The mission for the senior capstone course was to find a current building project in the city of Fort Wayne that appealed to my professional interest. My interest of commercial design led me to chose the Harrison Square Condominium project located on Jefferson Boulevard in downtown Fort Wayne. Assistance was given by a local architect from Design Collaborative to help with the project process throughout the year.
The purpose of this course was to experience the different phases of a project from the beginning stages of schematic design to the final construction documents. Working with the architect helped to form a relationship and showed the type of collaboration that takes place out in the work field. Information was collected about the client, who had many special and unique requests. This particular client wanted to combine two of the units to give them 2500 sq. ft. of living space, in order to accommodate their growing family. The first review took place in the middle of the fall semester to present our initial schematic selection of finishes and floor plan options. The FINAL review boards are shown below, then progress down with the multiple PRELIMINARY presentation boards.
FINAL PRESENTATION BOARDS:
Board #1- I used AutoDesk to create the model then used photoshop to better the floor plan by labeling the rooms and spaces. The perspectives were enhanced to give a realistic quality. I added the isometric view in the lower left-hand corner, and re-used my original hand-rendered elevations.
Board #2- I also enhanced the view of the kitchen and living room. At the same time I still showcased my hand-rendered elevations.
Board #3- The bathroom and bedroom images were lightened for clarity and depth.
FIRST SET OF PRELIMINARY PRESENTATION BOARDS:
Board #1- This shows the hand-rendered floor plan and living room elevation. Selections include paint, furniture, and mosaic tile for the fireplace backing. | Board #2- Here are the master bath and kitchen hand renderings, counter-top, cabinet, back-splash, bath tile, and furniture choices. |
SECOND SET OF PRELIMINARY PRESENTATION BOARDS:
Board #1- Here, I improved the graphic images by using Autodesk Maya 2009 and the help of photoshop. | Board #2- The second board perspectives helped to give the realistic view of my design. |
Board #3- The master bath images and perspectives show the angle of entry into the master bathroom. |
